Blanket Flower
A major actor in the play of a beautiful landscape is the flower. A flower’s vibrant colors, textures and form attract the attention of every living thing on earth. Most important, they are life sustaining contributors to our entire ecosystem.
Flowers are truly one of nature’s art forms and are frequently incorporated into art and photography. The composition of the flower makes for a perfect portrait. They pose with their unique geometry and harmonious colors. They also superbly complement other elements of the natural landscape. The yellow and crimson Blanket Flower originates from the American prairie and is featured on the cover page.

Vinca Minor
The Vinca Minor or Periwinkle (above) is a beautiful ground cover with numerous blooms and a five petal shape. The plant originated in the Southern Mediterranean and is cultivated all over the world.

Colorado Blue Columbine
The Colorado Blue Columbine is native to the Rocky Mountains. It is also recognized as the state flower of Colorado.

Azalea or Rhododendron

The Azalea is a domestic shrub and also known as Rhododendron. The plant thrives in the many parts of the Eastern United States.

A field of early summer Alpine Sunflowers cover an expansive field of this mountain valley in the Colorado Rockies. These flowers are stars in their own right but add large patches of color, contrast and texture to a landscape.

Butterfly on Lantana
The most natural complement in nature is the flower in collaboration with the world’s living things. The Monarch Butterfly on a flowering Lantana plant is illustrates this point in the image below.
